"Tree of Life" aka "The Movie I Got So Much Shit For Hating".

Jesus, talk about a movie that alienates the audience. We had Raptors and the Loch Ness Monster in this movie and I hated it. It was me and one other person in the theater and that guy walked out halfway through it. This is not a real movie. If this is what passes as a movie, I am going to film myself taking a shit for two hours and call it art. I seriously got called out for not liking this movie because I was a film student and that I should have loved it. No, it was garbage. There was probably no script to this film at all. I'll watch A Serbian Film over Tree of Life any day of the freakin' week.

One of my few pet peeves, I really hate the expression "This is not (a) real movie/music/literature, etc.", of course you're probably not arguing definition, but it's kind of insulting to people who like what you say is not a real something. And while I haven't seen The Tree of Life, comparing it to a film of someone taking a shit for two hours and calling it art is freaking random. Malick probably had a point or a message to pass, maybe it is fucking obtuse, pretentious or whatever, but that's not just doing something stupid and calling it art. No wonder you got called out for not liking this movie if that's how you voiced your dislike.

Also Sean Penn said the script was much more coherent and emotional than the final product.

i dont believe the great G.G. Allen said it was art though, but i do remember he screwed a chick on stage and got high on cocaine one night and some other drugs and beat the crap out of multiple people on the street.

That could have been *any* G.G Allin concert....

i believe that ones the most famous due to the fact that the said woman tried to sue him and it ended up being found in favor of gg allin being innocent, then he proceeded to write many offensive but fairly satirical songs which made the president shocked and appalled.

You kinda sorta missed the joke I was making, but ok then. Anyway, we're getting off topic here. My opinion on Tree of Life: It was meh. Just meh.

Terrence Malick Preparing Six-Hour Cut of ‘The Tree of Life’

Translated by nlvg of IMDb, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki (reportedly on the set of Alfonso Cuaron‘s currently shooting Gravity), revealed that after an initial cut of eight hours, Malick is currently in the process of making a six-hour version of the film. The additions would mostly focus on the middle portion of the film where we follow Jack (Hunter McCracken) as he grows up in 1950s Texas under the guidance of Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain’s characters. which i already posted about here. i haven't seen "Tree of life" either but i guess it's just one of those films where either you love it or you just fucking HATE IT! & i also love what Brad had to say about it as well.

I really HATE all Malick films

I still haven't heard anything positive about this film, although apparently it was nominated for several Oscars...

And got snubbed for all of them, even cinematography. Not quite as satisfying as Avatar getting snubbed, but still pretty good.
