Pretty damn early for the auteur to release a list of 2013 favorites! However, I'm sure this will get people talking in more ways than one!

1. Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway)
2. Before Midnight (Richard Linklater)
3. Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen)
4. The Conjuring (James Wan)
5. Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg)
6. Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach)
7. Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón)
8. Kick-Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow)
9. The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski)
10. This Is The End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)

Huh. THE LONE RANGER, really? And yeah, it seems awfully early for this. Frankly most of the movies I'm most interested in this year haven't come out yet - Walter Mitty, The Counselor, 12YAS, All Is Lost (maybe), Thor 2, Ender's Game...although the Q probably wouldn't care about those....

This is what he has to say about it to a French newspaper:

"The first forty-five minutes are excellent,” Tarantino said of the 3D Western, ”…the next forty-five minutes are a little soporific. It was a bad idea to split the bad guys in two groups; it takes hours to explain and nobody cares. Then comes the train scene—incredible! When I saw it, I kept thinking, ‘What, that’s the film that everybody says is crap? Seriously?’"

I admit, I'm with him on what he said though I think the overuse of the comedy weakens parts of the film more than the villains. When I buy the Blu-Ray, I'll probably make a second opinion!

That statement does make sense; I just wasn't as forgiving (I agree w/you that the humor mostly didn't work).
