I hate Family Guy with a passion. Jokes are old and stale, follow a predictable format. The show treats the viewer like you are a moron. And Seth needs to learn when to keep his political views to himself and shut the fuck up.

i dont agree with seth all the time and some of the jokes are off and it is predictable but most of the jokes are within my sense humor and when seth makes a political reference i dont agree with i try to over look it so i agree/disagree

It's pretty hit-and-miss with me. For a while there I got the feeling that the writers weren't even trying anymore, but lately it seems like they've been working to include at least some original humor in the show, instead of just falling back to their old, played out jokes.

I like Family Guy, but I admit they tend to run a bit too long with certain gags. I remember at least once they did the grosely unfunny Conway Twitty ad and the song segment lasted like a full four or five minutes.

I thought that was hilarious, though I was very drunk at the time, and if I watched the episode again I'd probably fast forward it.

i agree that Seth needs to keep his political opinions out of the show.

a few times i have seen episodes with scenes that to me are funny, like last week's episode were everyone watch lois's porno and the showed brian getting all excited with a clever shot of lipstick.

but then again that scene, and going back to another episode that featured the prom night dumpster baby are just pushing some things a little too far.

I actually laughed pretty hard at that, mixing gallows humor with Seth's inherent love of musical numbers.

I've gotta agree with Family Guy is pretty hit or miss with me as well. Some episodes have me rolling on the floor with laughter, while others just make me sit there and go "Um....."

I like Family Guy a lot; I don't think it's as good as it used to be, but I'm glad they've laid off using a lot of cutaways anymore, which were starting to grow stale. Honestly, in terms of structure and even satire, "American Dad" is a better show. The Vietnam War reenactment episode alone is excellent. Can't stand The Cleveland Show.

I think these both accentuate pretty well one of Family Guy's bigger problems. McFarlane likes to try to go for that "it goes on forever, gets old then keeps going until it gets funny again" thing, but I feel like more often than not it just misses horribly. The Conway Twitty cutaways are really the perfect example, because they aren't even jokes. The cutaway is a joke, but then it's just Conway singing a song, which isn't funny or a joke.

I have to agree with Brad that really "American Dad" is the better program. It relies on the characters being funny rather than the references the writers can have the characters make, and when they do make references they usually do it well.

Dude, that Vietnam War episode of American Dad was probably the best episode they've ever done!

I must confess that I did once get a kick out of that show, only because they happend to make a Godspeed You! Black Emperor reference, which caught me by surprise.

I enjoy Family Guy. I used to be a huge fan back in their older days, I still have the first few seasons memorized. When they came back I had some laughs, though I've definitely noticed the format changes. Got used to them eventually.

I don't mind the long jokes if they actually "Move," like the musical numbers. When they just sit there on one scene or image forever, I can get a little annoyed. The cutaways were hit and miss, some of the cutaways were hilarious; other I agree were pointless. I have to admit I rarely critiqued the show for them because I have a fondness for Non-Sequitur theatre. Probably why I liked "Robot Chicken" as well. I don't really keep up with FG every week anymore, but I still laugh at them sometimes.

I think the first season was okay, better than Simpsons (that's not saying much). Right after the first season it turned into complete shit for some reason.

Not really a fan. I'm a bit of a comedy snob.

British humour is very dry, almost to the point of nasty. I much prefer comedy series that strike that chord.

Also I get the feeling Family Guy can't decide whether it wants to be a sit-com or a sketch show.

That said I laughed my arse off at the Benjamin Disraeli reference.

I used to really like family guy when it first aired, but now it has gotten stale, like Allen Alda directing MASH stale. There are some good episodes here and there (I actually enjoyed the Star Wars episodes), but I think they need new writers, STAT. And Yes, Seth Needs to stop using his connections tp push his political and religious views. I am an atheist, and I don't give a damn if Bryan is one too, as well as a hard core liberal.

I've had to watch some with friends, and it just feels to me like if Eli Roth made a cartoon series. The show just seems to prod the audience with "Hey? Hey? This is funny, isn't it? Hey, isn't this funny?" with either nothing happening or things going on too long, It just feels rather pointless. But my sense of humor is VERY dry and almost staggeringly bent towards the surreal, so it's really not my show.

How did they make a Benjamin Disraeli reference? That's hilarious in and of itself.

I've been finding Fox's animation lineup shows (including The Simpsons) virtually indistinguishable from each other, so I just watch whatever has a plot that sounds interesting to me on whatever week. I like The Cleveland Show just fine, in contrast to the "can't stand it" response I've noticed on here and elsewhere. If I don't catch everything on Sunday, I pick and choose what I want to watch based on the Hulu listings. American Dad! is definitely better structured than Family Guy.
