Back when I was more active, I started the movie screenshot game. I think it's died out and the internet has changed, but I'm going to try to make new rules to revive the concept. The rules are as such:
THE RULES! Important read!1. There are two roles in this game, Player and Guesser. There is only one player per round; all other posters are guessers. The player shall post a screenshot of the film of their choice, and the guesser must make stabs at what film has been posted.
2. The player can post up to three screenshots, but no more. If no proper guess is made by the third screenshot and 48 hours pass - rule #3 comes into effect.
3. The player
must respond to guessers within a 48 hour period. If the current Player becomes silent for 48 hours, then they lose the right to become player. This turns player status to a "First Come, First Serve" status. if 48 hours silence passes from the player, the first guesser to respond to the topic becomes the player. After this, they must adhere to the first rule - and no other guessers can claim the role of player after another guesser has assumed the role of player.
4.
DO YOUR BEST TO CREATE UNIQUE SCREENSHOTS. Google has become an easy cheat device due to the reverse image search. It is
HIGHLY recommended you make the screenshot yourself. This can be done using the Print Screen button and then using the CTRL+V command in a common program like MS. Paint. If you do not own the film, you may still use screenshots found through search engines - but try to find an obscure and uncommon one.
5. The "Google Confirms" rule is still allowed, but altered. This refers to an old rule in which a guesser could take role of player without confirmation by finding the image used VIA google and then stating "Google confirms." This rule is stricter than it was in the past, however. If one is to claim "Google Confirms" - it
must be the
exact same screenshot used by the Player. Similar or telling shots are not allowed, due to the high chance of reverse image searches being used. Tineye may not be used as well, and any Tineye guesses will be disqualified.
6. Guessers may ask up to 3 hints. It is up to the player what hints he or she gives to the guessers; however, only 3 hints may be given. Once all 3 hints are used - no more may be given, and all hint requests past this point are to be ignored. If the player gives more than 3 hints, they are disqualified and the first guesser to take player position may acquire player position. Hints
may be given in Screenshot names, but choose your words carefully.
7. Screenshots must follow forum rules. If they violate forum rules, you will be disqualified. This is a given.
8. A player may at any time forfeit their role as player, and give the role of player to any guesser of their choice. However, this decision may
only be made by the player. Begging for player rights will
not be tolerated.
9. Videos are
not allowed, and can not be used as a hint nor can they be used as a guess. Since most videos reveal what film their footage is from, this rule is in place to prevent guessers or players cheating by using live footage.
ONLY Screenshots are allowed. If a player uses a video for their screenshot, they will be disqualified and the first guesser to take the place of the Player is granted the right of player.
10. Another new rule is known as "Actor Confirms." The IMDb may be used to identify actors shown in a screenshot. If one can prove that the actor appeared in the film, and admits to appearing in the film on their personal website or personal IMDb profile - a guesser may call "Actor Confirms" provided they show proof of their discovery; however, it
must be a shot or comment made by the actor tying into the film.
11. All forms of film are accepted - they can be animated or live action - as long as they are considered a full length film and not a TV show. They do not have to appear in theatres, just adhere to the feature film format as opposed to a television show. I.E. You can post screenshots from "The X-Files: I want to Believe" but cannot show a screenshot from a unique episode of the TV show.
12. Screenshots may not contain images that are against forum rules. This is a given. However, if the shot you wish to post contans nudity or extreme violence - censorship bars are allowed.
www.imageshack.us is a good image host to sign up to. Should your screenshot contain adult content, mark the image as private but use the direct image link to post it - that way admins won't get angry, but still allow you to post them in forums.
Google Cheaters will
not be tolerated, and I wish to reinforce the concept of taking your own screenshots - as I have. If any cheaters are discovered, they will be made not of and will
not allowed to make guesses or take role of Player for 4 weeks.
As always, I will post an easy shot for the first round.
