Do any of you folks have any memories of a book that, the first time you read it, you thought it was a great, enjoyable read, however, upon second reading of it, you found yourself not enjoying it so much?

For me, that would have to be "Neuromancer" by William Gibson.

The first time I read it, I was 13 and thought "ERMAGERD! MOST! EPIC! BOOK! EVER!"

I re-read it about 10 years later, and only got through about 40 pages before I was all ".....This is so damn wordy and boring....what the hell was I thinking?"

The only one I can think of off the top of my head would be Dracula. On first reading, epic horror story. On second reading, it just felt like a big angry diatribe about foreigners and women.

Now that I think about it, I almost never read novels more than once, even if I love them. There's too many books out there for me to go through, I guess.

Total opposite for me. Neuromancer still gets better and better every time I read it even if it's dated, obviously but that's no surprise since I worship the ground W. Gibson walkd on Laughing I do prefer Count Zero, the sequel to Neuromancer, though. But I don't think I'll ever get bored of good old Neuromancer, it's just so full of awesome characters and '' off the hook '' sets and settings.
