| Phelous, that Canadian guy who reviews crappy horror movies and dies a lot
what do you guys think of him?
i like him, he's easily one of my favorite reviewers on TGWTG. i enjoy his videos, especially all of his sketches, which are made better by his quite good VFX (also, he's Canadian, I'm Canadian.......

| Phelous is alright, I like most of his reviews, and his lets play of Silent Hill was pretty good. | |

| Phelous is fine, I don't like the way he over acts though. His humor seems very very dry, and freaking out doesn't suit him. I think I'd like him more sticking to sarcasm instead of trying to have really big reactions to things. I'm finding more and more I'm enjoying the reviewers that stay within there normal personalities.
Brad at least has a very clear distinction between himself and The Snob, and it's a character he can pull off really well. It helps that the character is subdued by it's very nature. The most you'll get out of the snob is a snarling contempt, no over dramatic yelling.

| Phelous is good when he does something that he is really passionate about. Like anything Silent Hill related. He does have some videos were it feels like he is trying to force comedy. | |

| I like the fact that in the recent Nostalgia Critic Christmas special, Phelous manages to die without ever appearing. | |

| I just recently watched his old reviews like "Mac and Me" and I am shocked at the amount of negative feed back he got from that review even from prominent members of TGWTG. That review was really good too, probably my favorite one of his. I didn't laugh at a review like that for a long time. It seemed like he was close to not being allowed on TGWTG, which is funny now because he is one of the main posters on the site. | |

It was directed at his monotone voice and lack of delivery. I guess people wanted something zany. His Mac and Me in 3 minutes is a funny as hell parody of what people want him to be like.

In my opinion his Silent Hill stuff is the worse. I don't understand why everyone at TGWTG have so hard dick for that game series. It's okay and all, but c'mon. Especially Linkara who's talking about Silent Hill as if he knew all about it, even though he haven't even played any of the games. Now they left Silent Hill alone, but they moved on to Dr. Who... | I for one am a fan of Phelous. It took me a couple of episodes to get into his humor, but once I did I got totally hooked.

| I've enjoyed the few of Phelous' videos that I have watched, but I haven't been able to bring myself to archive binge him like I have with other reviewers, purely because of his voice. It just gets really grating if I listen to it to long.
Apart from that issue though I do find him to be pretty funny and overall enjoyable to watch in the small doses I do.

His first episode, Mac and Me, was far too long and rather boring. Funny Games however is still my favourite episode of his. I remember people at TGWTG saying; "this sucks, don't keep him" and I was like "what the hell are you guys talking about? This guy is hilarious!"

| Phelous is pretty funny, he is OK. My favourite reviews of his are Mac and Me (oddly enough his first review and I still like it best) and the House of the Dead Comedy Version review. Which, I am not ashamed to say, I laughed not only at his groaning about stupid shit, but also at the stupid shit itself, which I found still kind of funny. Duh, duh, duh, duh! | |

| I like Phelous. He hasn't ever had to name his show, even after 100 episodes. His "meta" stuff helps his style to stay somewhat refreshing.
Also, the memes that he finds in movies don't oversay their welcome. They stay for a few reviews and then go away.
The only problem I have is when he has guests on who try to hide their painfully unfunny guest spots by acting more "meta" than Phelous.

| About four years ago I found AVGN, after quickly growing tired of him I found Spoony, who in turn, ironically, introduced me to TGWTG and The Cinema Snob. I started getting into the Linkara stuff, unaware his funniest material would come unintentionally in the form of his own comic Lightbringer, and also Nostalgia Chick. Doug has always irritated me beyond belief, so I couldn't get into the Critic stuff. A lot of the other folks on there weren't bad, but either handled topics I didn't have much interest in or they weren't too great in front of the camera.
Then I found the grail for myself, someone did horror movies for the site and had a huge backlog of episodes for me to watch. Oh how my happiness would be crushed when I started the video and Phelous popped up and somehow managed to be the worst video reviewer yet(until Obsuras Lupa came around, barring her team-up with Snob). I gave a few of his other videos a try, thinking it was just that episode, same problem. I understand the style of humor he's going for, I like plenty of people who do it right, Phelous just doesn't in my opinion. It was probably made worse by the fact he reviewed a genre of film I enjoyed so much and did it so badly.
Wow, I come off pretty cunty there, don't I?
Either way these days the only stuff I watch is what's on the Snob site and Spoony's vlogs.

| What endears me to Brad so much is that he has a genuine affection, knowledge and appreciation for cult/trash cinema and he reflects that in his videos. Whether it's through the ironic Snob persona or the pervasive references to other films, or even when he's doing a wholly ironic review (e.g. 'Maniac') or an earnestly negative one (e.g. 'Nukie'), there's a LOT more depth to his humor and commentary when it's coming from such a perspective rather than the "let's scream at things we think suck" mentality that seems to be the standard with most internet reviewers.
Phelous I would consider to be such a reviewer. In or out of character, his tone is much more detached and mean-spirited when he's reviewing horror movies (especially older ones), in the sense that I get the impression that he's merely picking random movies solely to indiscriminately bash them rather than coming from the viewpoint of a seasoned movie fan.
That sort of thing bugs me, because it does play a big role in a reviewer's quality. For instance, I like Phelous's reviews of things like 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' and 'Mortal Kombat' because he obviously has a passion for those franchises. When he's speaking from a fan's perspective, his observation is deeper and sharper and thus he has better, funnier and more insightful things to say rather than just pointing at a movie he'd never seen before and saying "This really sucks!" (even if it actually doesn't).
Provided, that's a complaint I have about most internet reviewers. Long post short, I do think the guy is very funny at times, though I'll prefer to watch him when he reviews what's within his proper field.
