| The subject says it all. What are some of your guilty pleasures? Be it because they were massively panned, they don't fit with your tastes, or for some reason you just don't want to be caught watching it by friends. I've got quite a few, but I'll start with... I can't say it's a "great" movie, but I actually enjoyed it. As many awful jokes as there were, there were a few genuinely funny scenes. I think what I can enjoy about this film though is more along the lines of its visuals, I have a fondness of Steam punk (or cattle punk, whatever.) and the designs kind of distracted me from the parts that were genuinely baaaaaaaaad. | |

| This movie has some horrible parts, like that near-infamous ending, but still thought it was hilarious. I watched it as a kid, so maybe I'm nostalgic, but I still get a kick out of it nowadays. I had a lot of fun watching this, but not in a "so-bad-it's-good" way. I admit that Elizabeth Berkeley's performance is entertainingly terrible, but this movie feels like it was going for an over-the-top campy tone that made the hammy performances of most of the actors feel intentional. I like movies with that sort of camp value. You could also subscribe to the theory that it's a satirical movie, but that's stretching it a bit. | |

| I haven't seen "Rat Race" in years, but I had a chuckle at it when I first saw it years ago.
Showgirls... meh. I don't think it's as awful as people say, but nothing special. Then again I'm not into melodrama, and I also hate Paul Verhoeven's movies. If it ain't RoboCop, I hate it.
As for Xanadu, the movie was "blaaaaaargh" - but I love the Soundtrack. ELO kicks ass, and while I'm not her biggest fan - I do like Olivia Newton John.

No shame in liking Drop Dead Fred, one of Rik Myall's best movies.

Oh crap! I like this one as well. Geesh, I might as well take down my science fiction and horror b-movie posters and just start hanging up Hello Kitty. I'm thirding that. Also, while I'm here... I know and agree that most of the best jokes are recycled, but I still have a laugh with this one.

| I love the first Resident Evil-film (the rest of them suck but the first one actually works with the whole alice in wonderland concept).
Dracula 2001 is also a great and fun flick! A little hokey with the whole Judas Iscariot thing, but all in all a great re-imagining.

This. For me, Wild Wild West presents a movie that is so ridiculous that I pretty much have to like it. Stupid though it may be, I thought it was a lot of fun. I even still wear the pair of WWW sunglasses I got at Burger King when the movie first came out.

Now for another one: I'm no fan of the first two Guinea Pig movies, and when my wife suggested this one I very reluctantly sat through it. Strangely.... I enjoyed it. Thankfully this one isn't just torture/mutilation for 50 goddamned minutes, and is actually a dark dark dark dark dark dark dark dark dark dark comedy about a guy who wants to commit suicide, but can't feel pain and can't die and employes a bunch of people to try and kill him. It's stupid. It's poorly shot (While still pretty nasty, the gore isn't as churning as in the first two - about the only merit I can give them.) It's fucked up. It's weirdly hilarious. - Tommy Wiseau wrote:

The general consensus on Purple Rain seems to be "Do you like Prince?" Most people I know who have answered "Yes" to that, like it. Most people I know who have answered "No" to that, despise it. The way I feel about it is that it's alright. I like Prince, but I'm not one of his biggest fans. In fact I kind of got tired of him because my parents were some of his biggest fans, and I swear to god I've heard "1999" on cassette at least 10,000 times since I was born. It's one of my earliest memories. I kind of like the movie though.

I liked it too. I was surprisingly able to accept it despite being a huge SH fan, maybe just because I set my expectations to Uwe Boll level. SO I was glad I didn't walk out with total and utter shite like I expected.

| Two movies with really juvenile, vulgar comedy, but the commercial parodies are just great. I actually like Tunnel Vision even outside of the realm of guilty pleasures, but The Groove Tube is probably one I really shouldn't like. Prime Time is on the list, too. | |

I never watched it, didn't really look appealing to me. I'll say this, the second Guinea Pig is disturbing and raw enough to get a star of merit. The first film though is just boring as shit and pointless as all hell. "He Never Dies" is the only one I really liked. "Mermaid in a Manhole" was better as a manga. Never saw any of the others.

SO I was glad I didn't walk out with total and utter shite like I expected. im a huge fan of the games and i aceepted it too. its one of the very few games that can acutally tranlate into a movie Yeah. It helps that you could tell that Mr. Gans had actually played the game; most adaptations seem to just show a couple screenshots to the director and say "That's it! You're prepared to make this into a movie." I think that the main problem I have with the movie though is the monster choice, it's clear they went with Pyramid Head, The Lying Figures, and the Bubblehead nurses for the sake of fan-service - when they belonged in the second games story. It reduced the chance for the psychological connection, and it's clear that when they actually use the monsters that have that connection (The children, and of course the Janitor - which proved that the filmmakers had some good ideas for new monsters in their head. The Janitor was fucking creepy. Especially knowing what he did and the way he wiggles his tongue suggestively x.x) they can pull off the psychological element. Sadly the way they severed those ties through fan service kind of made it weaker, but it was still a fun spook fest - and once again; damn better than I expected it to be. I expected it to be on Uwe Boll level. While I'm here, here's another guilty pleasure of mine: I actually saw it before part 1, so the fact that they added a "2" at the end didn't make it heresy to me that it wasn't a horror. In a weird way, seeing it first made me appreciate the original more as well. But this movie makes me laugh. Now for another one: (I love that poster, by the way.) This is stretching it. I'm not at all ashamed nor do I feel guilty admitting that "The Burning" is one of my all time favourite slasher films (It was also my first slasher movie; I saw it at age 6, back when I had a temporary success in hiding a splitter to get higher-end cable into my bedroom.), so why is it a guilty pleasure? Well, when I am amongst fellow slasher fans my full opinion of the film is something I am always afraid to say lest I be shunned by my fellow slasher fans. Why? Well, I'll tell you (Please don't shun me slasher fans :<): The Burning > Friday The 13th Part 2 Cropsy > Jason Most of my fellow slasher fans act like I just called Jesus overrated in the midst of a Catholic church sermon when I say that. Don't get me wrong - Jason is still cool but I like Cropsy better for a couple reasons. Firstly, I saw The Burning and Friday the 13th Part 2 around the same time - and Jason never freaked me out or disturbed me. Cropsy did. He doesn't frighten me now, but I still remember being scared of him as a kid. Secondly, Cropsy moves faster and is a bit more crafty (The raft scene is a prime example.) and the like. Thirdly, I know this sounds weird; but the idea of Shears as a weapon bugs me more than the idea of a Machete as a weapon. I guess it's because even though it's obvious that shears can be used as a weapon, I associate them more as gardening tools whereas a machete almost springs to mind instantly as a weapon, even in the regard that its practical use is "slashing" plants and such. So the idea disturbed me more, plus for some reason the image of a head getting stabbed by shears and pulled apart seems more rough and painful than a machete cleaving it in two. Lastly, did Jason ever use a fucking flamethrower!??!This is less about Cropsy vs. Jason and more about the quality of the film itself, and one other reason I prefer The Burning over Friday The 13th Part 2 is the fact that Tom Savini did the gore, and that's always a plus. In fact if I recall correctly, Tom Savini was asked to do the gore for Friday the 13th part 2 but declined - favouring "The Burning" instead. *Cowers in the corner waiting for slasher fans to shun him*
