I haven't read any of his books but I considered him a Maine legend. It's feels good to actually look up to a celebrity from your home state. I have seen some of the movies based on his books including Carrie and The Mist!

I'm not too much into Steven King I have read several of his books but I wouldn't call him a favorite. I did really enjoy the Talisman/Black House series he did with Peter Straub but I'm pretty sure that's because I'm kind of a Straub-whore.

This seems odd, but I love Pet Sematary. And Salem's Lot.

The first Stephen King I read was Insomnia, halfway through I began to think it was pretty terrible, but I somehow managed to finish it. Didn't leave a very good first impression. Nonetheless, I felt obliged to give King another try, considering his reputation, his enormous literary output and all that jazz. So I read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon which was kind of mediocre until maybe the last 3rd, but by then it was too little too late. Fortunately, I didn't give up then and I started a third book : Pet Semetary, very enjoyable. Right now I'm reading the Bachman books ; Rage felt kind of flat, but The Long Walk is morbidly fascinating, might be my favorite out of the five. King's style tends to get on my nerve sometimes, but I guess that's a very personal opinion.

From what I've gathered until now, he seems to be pretty hit and miss. Hopefully, there is more Pet Semetaries than Insomnias in his bibliography.

And apparently, The Stand is going to be made into a movie to be released in theaters in 2012. I for one will definitely go to see that.

Stephen King's one of my favorite writers, if not my alltime favorite. I've been reading the Dark Tower Books since I was 10 (though I have mixed feelings about how they ended). It and The Shining probably would've scared the shit out of me had I'd read them when I was younger, although they still creep me out. Also, The Stand is my absolute favorite novel.

Currently reading Under The Dome, which was a Birthday present. Also trying to finish The Dead Zone, which has it's moments, but it's a little slower than I'm used to from him.

I really wish the dark tower books would be turned into movies, they'd make a huge load of money I think.

I haven't read King in years (since I stopped going to the library) but once my novel review series kicks off I might do a couple of King reviews.

My favorite is Probably 'Salems Lot which had a T.V. movie adaptation that I haven't seen. People say it's not very good.

if you watch the (1979) version make sure you have the long ass version cause the short version sucks ass.

the remake they did a few years ago did suck ass though. i can't wait until his new book comes out next month on the 8th i believe. since i can never remember what the title is.

if you know the date that "JFK" was killed that's the title i believe. just look it up on what it's about cause it's just easier that way than to explain it. anyways,

as for the sequel to "Saleme's Lot' i haven't seen that one but i love the long version of the original tv film. that's the version i grew up on. i think i have the original broadcast on tape from back than but i'm not sure. my brother got a copy of it from someone i forget who? an aunt i think? or something? back in the 80's. so i may be wrong on the original broadcast. it may have just aired in the 80's at some point & it was the long version that is meant to be seen.

see i don't know why people love that book. i thought it was a piece of shit. it's like he didn't know what the book was even about. or rather he was trying to find a way with it. granted i'm grateful that he got to be successful writer because of it. there's no doubt about that. & the original film kicks fucking ass.

but the book sucks ass. he's even said in various interviews pretty much close to what i just said. though i was more blunt about than he normally is. he doesn't think it's one of his best either.

i did buy his new one though. i just haven't read it just yet
