I loved this movie. If you haven't seen it watch it. The 3D is great and I would love to see more movies. I never read the comics just the 90s sly movie. I would be very interested to see what this director and writer would do with the Angel family from the last movie.

Dredd was eons better then Stallone's trainwreck movie, and all comparisons aside, was still a good movie.

I liked the Stallone one just for it's camp. Armand Assante ate up so much of that movie there wasen't anything left. I still watch that movie for Assante over acting and Sly trying so hard to play it straight.

It's great and not as Sci-Fi as the Sly one. The city looks like a real city of today. No flying cars, not every building is 1000 stories in the air. No robots. The bad guys have normal looking guns. It just takes place in a project home 50 years from today and it looks just like that.

I heard this movie was pretty low budget and only got financed because of the 3d gimmick. Like I said in the first post, I would love to see what would happen in a sequel if they got more money and maybe another name star. Might make it better might make it worst.

Well if you believe what people ware saying about how it's doing at the box office, I don't think a sequel will be very likely anyways.

I'm really hoping this movie gets a second wind form all the Word-of-mouth. Everyone I know who's seen it has loved it. It's just a matter of selling people on going to see it. Tell everyone you know and all that. I really want to see a sequel.

Honestly, if they want to stay true to the comics in future movies, they'll have to include some more Sci-fi elements. They should be able to do that without killing the gritty feeling, though (the idea of a mutant with psychic powers worked into this one just fine). A war with robots was a major arc in the comics, and a major re-occurring character is an undead version of Judge Dredd from a parallel dimension. Maybe they'll take a Chris Nolen rout and downplay those kind of elements, but I have a feeling that they could pull them off well too.

Just taking the material more seriously, and not pulling any punches with the R rating went a long way to making this movie as awesome as it was without going into cheesy territory. I'm sure they could do the same in the future, if they earn enough to be given the chance.

So I saw Dredd 3D this afternoon...blew my mind all over the walls of the theater. Only one thing pissed me off...I was the only one there. No one else bought a ticket for the same showing. The fuck is wrong with movie-goers these days?

Seems that it's only made about $10mil in North America, and $20mil worldwide. Was hoping word of mouth would have helped it in the second weekend, but no such luck. Maybe It'll do alright on DVD/Blu-ray.

This is why we can't have nice things...

Assuming that Dredd fails at the box office (which seems more and more likely, based on what we've been seeing) but becomes a hit on DVD and Blu-Ray, what do you figure are the odds of us getting another Dredd movie made?

*If* there's a sequel, I'm gonna assume it'll be a Direct to DVD one.

This is the first movie I've ever seen on merit of a review from Brad, and it did not disappoint. Very Happy Fun all around!
