| I wonder if some of you read any books in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I started reading the books once I heard Jim Carrey was playing the role of Count Olaf in the 2004 film version of the book series. I only read the first nine books and did not get a chance to finish the series yet. Hopefully someday I'll go back to the series and finish it up. I consider the series to be my alternative to Harry Potter. | |

| I haven't read the books in years, but I love them. They're smart books marketed towards children that adults can enjoy, too, which is rare. The movie, though, I really didn't like. It was just too goofy. | |

| Loved the movie, adored the books. Really depressing, though. | |

| Use to read them way back when they were coming out. Stopped around the time I stopped reading all together. | |

| i have read this entire series and enjoyed it up to the 7th book from there the quality steadily declined, leading to the least satisfying, most confusing ending of a series ever. all those questions you have? THEY'RE NEVER ANSWERED. its just......ends its left me rather pissed off. the low point in my opinion was the 10th book
never seen the movie, had the board game at one point

| I read the first 3, I think. They were fun though I actually don't remember much about them. I remember the movie more than anything, if not just for Carrey's part. I either love or hate Carrey - and I loved him in the movie version. He was actually a pretty good casting choice for Olaf. | |

| They were probably the first series of any kind I became obsessed with, now that I look back at it I can't believe I read all thirteen books.
Great story, well written and as someone said earlier, intelligent. There's some dark humor in there and a lot of cool story elements that pop up during it.
The movie on the other hand, I didn't like too much. Jim Carey wasn't evil enough, it was too goofy and kid friendly, and I always saw the series to work better as an animated film. If they were to make movies based on the art style that's on the book covers, that would sure be cool.
