Cannibal Holocaust: I really really love this movie, everything from the social commentary, to the music, to Robert Kerman's character. It perfected the lost footage movie, and I don't think that will ever be done again with such intelligence.

Cannibal Ferox: It was a mediocre Cannibal Holocaust ripoff without the social commentary that made that movie great. The animal deaths really ruin it for me also, I could partially handle it in holocaust but there's so many more here.

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky: Very entertaining, with great action scenes and a story that actually wasn't half bad for something so basic.

Ninja of the Magnificence: Pretty standard martial arts film, but I thought it was pretty good.

Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning: I haven't seen this in a few years, but as a 12 year old who loved the F13 movies, I actually liked this one a lot. People often complain that it's not as good because Jason's not in it, but I like a killer that has more personality and back story anyway. It goes to show that Jason wasn't what made these movies great.

"Faces of Death"
One of the first shockumentry/mondo films that I've rented from my local video store and watched 5 times in a row before returning it. I'm still such a huge fan of it to this day that I even b ought the 30th anniversary Blu-ray. It did spawn a following of spin-off series such as "Traces of Death" and "Death Scenes" featuring Anton LaVey of the Church of Satan.

Full Metal Ninja - Pretty much par for the course as chop-socky flicks go. Has some good one-liners, and the choreography is pretty tight.
Troll 2 - Nothing I can say about it that hasn't already been said.
Dolemite - Pretty fun, but the movie slows to a crawl whenever Rudy Ray Moore goes into one of his standup/poetry bits.
Maniac - Awesome. Totally awesome.
The Last House on the Left - Brad's review is pretty close to how I feel about this one. There's a good, rough revenge movie in there somewhere, but the pacing and the tone are just so skewed b the cut-taway bits with the cops and the family that it just kills the movie.
Sleepaway Camp - Average slasher film with a creepy-as-all-Hell ending.
Sleepaway Camp II - I liked it a lot better than Brad seemed to.
Sleepaway Camp III - Mostly forgettable. I plan to check out the uncut version to see if it has more of an impact.

PostSubject: Re: Cinema Snob movies you have seen, and your thoughts on them   Cinema Snob movies you have seen, and your thoughts on them EmptyThu Aug 09, 2012 9:13 am

I seen a good amount of films that he has done. So here goes nothing:

Anthropophagus - Pretty let down by this film after hearing about it for years. It was boring to watch but I do like the creepy atmosphere had.

Alien 2 - Boring film and the only thing good it had to ofter that it had cheesy effects that you can laugh at.

Bruno Mattei's Terminator 2 - I remember watching this on Youtube years ago because I was a big Terminator fan and I remember reading about the film on the Wikipedia. The dubbing is so bad at a point that you just laugh at everything that they say. Not to mention that the movie was rather boring at some points as well.

Cannibal Holocaust - One of my favorite horror films and I love how it was made. Such a great movie on every level.

Creepozoids - I remember seeing this movie as a kid on TV very late at night and I remember it being very cheesy. Even when I was 8 years old that I laugh at this film on how stupid it was.

The Corpse Grinders - Really bad film but at least you get a few good laughs out of it.

Jaws 5: Cruel Jaws - I remember seeing this on a Spanish movie channel and I had no idea what was going on since the channel had no English subs. I didn't even know that it was a Jaws knock off until years later. Personally the movie sucked and nothing else you can expect from a Bruno Mattei film.

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning - I remember this one being alright. I rather watch it over Part 8 since Part V is nowhere as boring.

Full Metal Ninja - A awesome bad movie.

The Last House on the Left - I didn't see the major love behind this film. It's okay but it's not something I will watch again. I sit through movies much worst.

Ninja Terminator - One of Godfrey Ho's best films which is not saying a whole lot. Richard Harrison is always awesome though.

Ninja Untouchables - Awesome ninja film. The music was enjoyable, another fun bad movie. I love Godfrey Ho movies Very Happy !

Porno Holocaust - I remember watching this on Google video and it was so fucking boring. I hated it and I do wish that I never saw the film.

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky - Awesome movie. A perfect movie to watch with your friends.

Salo - This was really boring and I didn't think that was gross of a film. Some scenes were nasty but I sit through much worst.

Silent Night Deadly Night, Part 2 - A poor follow up to a decent film. The movie is nothing more then stock footage but at least the garbage day scene is always fun to watch.

Troll 2 - So bad it's good. Nothing else can be said.

Troll III: Contamination Point 7 - This one was not all that great. Some of the death scenes were pretty cool though.

Thunder of the Gigantic Serpent - Seeing that I'm a big fan of monster movies that I remember seeing this on Youtube years ago. The movie gives you what you want for a cheesy monster movie.

Turkish Star Wars - Another film that it's so bad that it's good. The movie is a fun mess to watch.

Video Violence - It had a nice concept but everything is pretty bad.

Video Violence 2 - Awful film in my opinion. Pretty much had no real story and I found it worst then the first film.

Violent Shit - This one was pretty boring too. I would like to watch the sequels since they look more fun to watch.

Zombie 5: Killing Birds - This was pretty bad and I remember I was let down that there was hardly any killer birds. I was hoping for a cheep rip off of The Birds but I got none of that.

Zombie '90: Extreme Pestilence - So bad that it's good. I love how bad the dubbing is and the movie is another perfect film for a bad movie night.

Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning: The first Friday the 13th movie i saw (15+ years ago), and I thought it was okay-ish, but not great. But it did have awesome opening credits with the 3d mask turning and all (that was from that movie, right?? i only saw it once)

Dolemite: There was some fun parts in it, but i really thought the movie was to slow in the middle and end parts of the movie. Especially when dolemite enters his club at the end...... I had expected something like Black Dynamite (a movie i loved) and instead i got something a more slow and less well made.

I am going to watch some of the others, especially the Pierre kirby ninja movies.

i know Brad said that the guys at MSKT3000 didn't touch child bride. but i wonder what volume that interview is on?

hmm..? honestly i don't think they would have been allowed to show that one, cause regardless of how bad it is, it's let's be honest a risky movie even for today. bad yes there's no doubt about that. but doing an entire episode for MSTk3000 with jokes the way they do. how do you do that?

kinda how do you make jokes about rape for 45 minutes on I Spit on your grave? the answer is you don't.
the ones that i have seen that i enjoy are troll the original one.

i don't know if brad honestly hates that movie or not. but i love it, it's no doubt one of those so bad it's good films. but he's right about how bad of an actress if you want to call her that, he he that is, that annoying as fuck little girl is.

each time i watch i hope someone comes out and chops her head off. just so she'd shut the fuck up.

since it's only a film i'm talking about i can say that. in real life no i would NEVER say that or even think it.

anways, honestly i kind of like friday the 13th part 5. brad's right in his review about it, i'm not denying that.

it's got a LOT of faults. and it's got some great lines as well. and i always had the impression for some odd reason that
that fat redneck of a son in it, was a copy of randy Quaid in vacattion.

i dunno why it just feels that way. but i doubt that' s where it came from. either way that's a fucking masterpiece compared to part fucking 8!

i'll have to go over his list of film of ones i have seen. which there aren't that many. to at some point post here.

Salo: 120 Days of Sodom.

It was.... interesting. It had me quite bored through the parts that contained much dialogue, but eh. Although, I did find the torture parts mildly arousing. I felt this film ended a bit abruptly though. (Probably because I didn't care if it ended sooner or later.) It didn't make me mad, just a depressed that it didn't end well.

Probably doesn't help that I've seen much worse than this beforehand...

LeMunson, love the avatar. Anyway, here goes:

Faces of Death: Obvious, I really love Mondo Movies (I think the original Mondo Cane is a masterpiece of film completely unironically), but I just found Faces of Death mean spirited and unpleasant. The actual mutilated corpses were something I didn't need to see, but the faked stuff was funny. There was none of the art of the Mondo Cane movies or the comedy and oblique perspectives of other early Mondos, so it was just icky. I'm not offended, I just don't plan on watching it again.

Last House on the Left: Tone everywhere! "Late Night Trains" did the same story far, far better.

The Gestapo's Last Orgy: I kind of really like this one because it's almost an art film. Too bad the pacing is dreadful.

Anthropophagus: Lots of fun, but the pacing again is kind of off. How can you beat that cute theme song?

Cannibal Ferox: One of my favorites. The animal abuse is awful, and I skip past it, but the rest is like a crazy EC horror comic. It's just a fun movie. Oh, and Ferox is a word. It means fierce.

Cannibal Holocaust: Of course, Holocaust is the counterpoint. It's such an incredible, effective film. Again, the animal abuse is horrible, but considering they were eaten, it would have happened anyway. I love the techniques Deodato uses: blending real and fake to create a sense that anything is possible, showing almost everything, but letting our minds fill in the worse parts (take the penis chopping scene- it's far away here and obscured by leaves, but in Ferox, Lenzi showed it straight on and it looked silly), and bringing us slowly deeper into Hell as the movie goes on. It's pretty emotionally draining, though, so it's not something I watch a lot.

Maniac: Here is something I've watched a lot, though. I just love that sleazy Taxi Driver New York, I love the Giallo feel, I love how we get so far into Frank's mind that reality and fantasy become irrevocably blurred, I love how Lustig was able to blend atmospheric tension building with gore flawlessly. It's another harrowing watching experience, but the pacing is so brisk it doesn't feel like it drags on forever. I actually met Bill Lustig at the recent cinematic re-release, and for 2am, he was one of the funniest, most gracious people I've ever met. If he's ever in your area for a show, go see it.

Blood Feast: I have almost every movie Herschell Gordon Lewis has done (none of the nudies, but that's about it), but Blood Feast is probably my favorite. It's another goofy EC-style horror comic of a movie, but what else could you ask for out of something with that title? It's a gem. Suprisingly (or not), this has had the best reaction of any movie I've brought to a party, and a it was a group of people who didn't like exploitation. We followed it up with...

New Year's Evil: Another fun one, and great for parties because, well, that's what it's about. If you like the 80s, you'll like this: lots of big hair and some pretty good New Wave songs. Ignore the sometimes nonsensical plot and enjoy; this is one meant to be watched at midnight on New Year's.

Driller Killer: Has this had a good transfer? I have a beat up VHS transfer (which adds to the sleaze!), but I'd love to be able to see what's going on more. It's similar to Manaic a bit, but way more avant-everything. Best watched at night on a train into New York.

Caligula:

Island of Death: Better than it sounds. It's weird and uncomfortable and kind of funny and goat fucking and...how do you follow up goat fucking? Not the best, but worth a sleazy watch.

The Astro-Zombies: One of my all-time favorites. From the wind-up robot toys in the opening to the Tommy Jarvis monster masks, it's sheer Drive-In gold. It made me sad to get the impression that Brad genuinely didn't like it. He's right about long stretches of nothing happening, though, but the cheeseball payoff is so lovely.

Troll: It's a film.

Troll 2: It's a glorious mess of a film.

Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning: Not really bad. Not really good. Just kind of unmemorable, but I have it on DVD so it can't be that bad.

The Italian Stallion: Nothing, nothing, Stallone frollicking in the snow, nothing, boob dancing, nothing, weird Rocky reference, nothing.

Snuff: More fun than it sounds. I actually found the Not-Manson stuff kind of interesting, and it being cut short was a lot of fun. Of course it's not real, but with something like that, why would you want it too? Shame the DVD has no extras.

Blood Freak: It's a giant killer turkey movie! I have a real soft spot for the fuzzy 60s Florida HG Lewis look, which this has.

Don't Go Near the Park: It has the HGL style, too. It's got some pacing issues, but it's one of my favorites given it's gonzo plot that it rides totally seriously to the end. Thank you, Crackers!

Unhinged: I really, really liked this movie when I saw it, but I always forget the title (or, if I see the title, I forget the plot). But worth a watch because of it's moody setup and really wacky ending.

Video Violence: Old video stores! Snuff! Silly practical effects! The love and care of a town getting to work on a big Hollywood movie (kinda). It's just so charming, and it hits my interest points.

And kind of related, I was in a stage version of Monkey With 72 Magic.

If you want to count crossovers then I seen both Leprechaun and The Human Tornado. The Human Tornado was a fun movie and Leprechaun was pretty bad even back then. Leprechaun fail to both funny and scary at the same time in my opinion.

My list of have-dones and will-dos of cinemasnob-movies:
Cinema Snob movies you have seen, and your thoughts on them RSGwL

I already have watched Dolemite, which had its awesome and boring moments. I bought it on DVD.

I recently got a hold of Day of the Panther on VHS for about 5 danish kroner (about one dollar). It was okay, i enjoyed this 80ies actionsploition.

I bought Ninja Terminator on a VHS big box on a flea market. It is on my will-do list.

And the last one is a movie called "Tough Ninja The Shadow Warrior", a Godfrey Ho Ninja-sploitation movie. Sorta related, but not a cinema snob movie per se.

In no order.

The Driller Killer: More of a psychodrama about a artist losing his sanity rather than a horror/slasher about a guy who kills with a power drill. I dig it.

Night Dreams: Pornography for the criminally insane. I love it.

Nekromantik: Unnecessary rabbit killing aside, it's got that sleazy art vibe that I dig.

Sleepaway Camps I-III: Good, cheesy slasher fun. My favorite's probably the second.

Last House on the Left: One of the ultimate exploitation movies. I'm in the minority that loves this one.

Pink Flamingos: Absolute essential trash. Haters need not apply.

Cannibal Holocaust: Masterpiece. That's all I gotta say.

Night of Horror: Why does this exist? It...it makes for an interesting viewing experience. But it's still pretty much the worst movie ever.

Troll 2: The definition of 'so-bad-its-good.'

New Year's Evil: One of the most underrated slashers ever. Needs a DVD release.

The Geek: Sorta doesn't count, since I only saw the 15 minute version included on the Something Weird DVD of Godmonster of Indian Flats. It took a while to get going, but when Bigfoot started buttfucking the girl I laughed pretty hard.

Death Bed: The Bed That Eats: It's arthouse fantasy with novelty value. No reason I really shouldn't like it.

Riki-Oh: Splattery, ridiculous cinematic epic.

I believe that's it. I'm easy to please, as you can see. Razz

Troll - I actually think it's kinda underrated. Everyone seems to assume that because it's in the same line of movies as Troll 2 it's automatically terrible. But really it's just another 80s monster movie. The production values, acting, and pacing are all okay.

Troll 2 - Love it, of course.

Ninja Terminator - Pretty tedious but the Richard Harrison scenes are amazing.

Woodchipper Massacre - Barely remember it. I think it was trying to capture that campy 80s feel but it failed miserably...

actually i can't make it through the 1st five minutes of 'Troll 2' cause of how bad the acting is and everything else is.
and i've seen plenty of shitty movies. though i think brad may got me beat in that aspect. he he.
i love the 1st film. yes it's got plenty of flaws but i still love it. as cheesy as it is. the dance scene is hard as hell to watch

i agree with the snob on that. i dunno what brad thinks of it but i doubt if he loves it. he he. as for most of his films
he's reviewed as the snob. i haven't seen most of them. but a few i have. i have seen all the 'Sleepaway camp'
films and though i love the 1st film. and i think he likes it too.i still laughed my ass off on his review to that one.

i hadn't really thought of how much gay undertones it has. not counting the nude guys scene of course.
i'm dying to see him do Elm Street part 2! yes i know brad loves the film. and i do as well. but it's got plenty of flaws as well. i did however see the last one he reviewed. the silent deadly night films' i've seen them all and they are terrible films. yes the 1st one is a decent film. but the rest are shit. pure utter shit.

i realize that suggesting nightmare 2. this isn't the right thread for that and it isn't. but since i mentioned gay undertones
well that film is as gay as one can get. he he.

Troll 2- What else can I say, its definitely a must-see for everybody I know.

Full Metal Ninja- Nice little romp thru Godfrey Ho territory.

Thunder of Gigantic serpent- Was on YouTube for a short time allowing me to take in arguably the best of the Ho/Kirby collabs. Quite fun.

Silent Night Deadly Night 2- hehahahaha, what can I say? I was bored and Garbage day made me happier.

Hitler Dead or Alive- My god was this movie awesome. I'm a Ward Bond fan, especially when John Ford was around, but this was too fun to pass up.

Troll 3/creepers- Not as fun as Troll 2 by any means. Eh, not the worst piece of crap I've seen, that honor still belongs to Nacho Libre.

Black Devil Doll From Hell- SUCKS!

"Salo:WAAAAAAAYYYY too pretenious for my taste."

It wasn't the poop eating....it was the pretentiousness of the whole thing....

It's a shame that I haven't watched many of Brad's movies.
One good thing, though: Less text to read for you Wink

Let's start with...

- Beaver & Buttface
Yes, it IS horrible and it IS unintentionally funny. But if I want two funny, stupid teens doing stupid watch I'd rather watch the real "Beavis & Butthead" episodes. And if I wanted to see a hot movie with people screwing each other I'd rather watch a "serious" adult movie. Still, it was for the experience and I wouldn't rewatch this anytime soon.

- Alice (The X-Rated Musical)
This was a better experience, even nice to listen to and to look at. But still...a sexy version of the classic "Alice in Wonderland" is not actually my cup of tea. Thank god they turned Alice into a young adult!
The adult scenes were okay, I guess, for a film like that. But I have to ask if there's really a person out there who would be turned on by a mixture of a few softcore scenes and a bunch of goofy songs inbetween...even in 1976. Again, it was funny to me so it wasn't such a time waster.

- Sharknado
The Snob reviewed this with the Nostalgia Critic. And I have to admit that "Sharknado" is one of the better monster animal movies I've seen. But that doesn't mean that I can ignore the lack of talent, the lack of logics (like the sudden changes of weather) or the lack of fun sometimes. Still, I have seen so many worse movies like this.

- Zombie Lake
I guess the Snob also reviewed this.
It's a bad nazi zombie movie with some unintentional hillarious scenes.

- Slugs
I can't remember so many things about that movie. Maybe the fact that I found it funny how people got killed by freaking slugs. My favourite scenes was the restaurant scene (after the guy ate a salad).

- Turkish Star Wars
One of my definite favourite trash movies. One you have to see to believe. Maybe this is Turkey's "The Room", only even more ugly and cheaper.

- Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky
I like violent movies where the violence is creative and entertaining. Riki-Oh is a very good example for this.

- Redneck Zombies
Unfortunately it's been about 11 years since I've seen this movie and I can't remember all of it. But I remember that I was amused by the cheap effects and silly dialogues. Also I watched it with a bad German dubbing that fullfilled the experience.

- Creepozoids
I don't really enjoy this movie, mostly because it's more boring to me.

- Blood Feast
It was a special experience to see this since I learned that this is suppoused to be the first splatter movie in movie history. But not only that, I enjoyed watching the actors reading their lines off some cards or something. It's a stupid stupid movie but certainly worth a watch.

- Extra Terrestrial Visitors
It's an okay movie but the constant fog and the boredom sometimes annoyed me a bit. But the alien was cool and some effects were actually really nice to look at.

Yeah...that's about it.
But there are several other reviewed movies I'd like to give them a watch.
