Demons (1985)

Has anyone seen this movie? I love it! I caught it at a film festival that my local drive in was having back in September when they closed for the season. It's about these people who are invited to a sneak preview at a movie theater and all hell breaks loose when the patrons are turned into demons.

Probably in my top 15-20 horror movies of the 80's. Some very good stuff to be had there.

IMO, while Demons 2 is a good movie, I liked the first one a bit better.

The second film felt more like a comedy to me. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it, but the whole trapped in a movie theater interests me more. With the second film, I liked where they made use of the glowing eyes for comedic effect. Like you see them all around the stairs and then they all look down in unison and they're all backlighted with the eyes lit up. Bobby Rhodes who played Tony the Pimp and then Hank the Gym Instructor is one of the reasons why the two films are great. Especially his role as Hank in Demons 2.

I saw an actual 35mm print of the film and it was beat to hell in the last 15 minutes. It kept cutting every few seconds and it was like; "What the hell." Spoilers here to the end, don't read ahead, when Cheryl becomes a demon that part was completely removed. It was showing the credits and then it cuts to the gun shooting off and then her just falling off and I was like; "Why did they shoot her?" And then it showed the scene where she was laying in the road, transformed, and dying.

I've been to the actual exterior shots of the theater in berlin when i lived in germany, unfortunately, it was closed and being converted to being a shitty night club. The interiors were another theater that was converted to a bank years later. Shame these places are torn down.

Demons one and 2 are 2 of my favorite movies since child hood. Its the frist i saw t involve argento who is my moms cousin. i remeber as a little girl wanting plushy demon to snuggle in bed with

UK Region B Blu-rays drop at the end of the month. I got the double feature steelbook pre-ordered.

i've seen the 1st two films in this series. they are i think terrible. the 1st one has some i think nice ideas & some nice gore. but i thought the film was terrible. but it was to be fair a LOT better than the 2nd one which is just plain awful.

I really like the first Demons. Not my favourite 80's horror movie by far but still pretty good and it has an amazing soundtrack.

Haven't gotten round to seeing the second one yet I'm afraid.
