| I know some of us on this board are old enough to remember this very historic all day, two country concert from 1985. My question is: what did you all think of it overall, either from seeing it on TV or DVD. | |

| I think there's a lot of just amazing moments from Live-Aid. Queen playing Radio Ga-Ga. Boomtown Rats doing I Don't Like Mondays with the crowd singing along at the end. Phil Collins playing not once, but twice in two different parts of the world.
I think if you can only own one live performance, you should own Live-Aid.

I think if you can only own one live performance, you should own Live-Aid. Mixed feelings on Live Aid. Whilst It was all for the greater good...I just can't stand Phil Collins (ugh), Bob Geldof (twat) and Queen (overrated). However Status Quo were a great opener, Adam ant is a crazy god and I've always got time for Midge Ure being a huge Ultravox fan. Being born in '88, it was before my time, so I guess you had to be there. I do own the DVD though. I guess my problem was it was all a bit mainstream. I love 80's music but I really couldn't get into it. My parents were Goths so I grew up on the likes of The Cure, Mission UK, Siouxsie and the banshees etc. Didn't really stand a chance did I?

Hey, what'd he do to you? I toss my Boomtown Rats button at you! I roll for dexterity get snakeeyes and am blinded by your button. In all honesty it really irked me the way he stole all the credit from Midge Ure for Live Aid. Midge was humble and just took it on the chin, citing helping Africa as more important than the pettiness of credit. Top bloke. Besides "I don't like Mondays" or "The Voice"? Flawless victory Ultravox methinks.
