That was a pretty good episode. I honestly think this is the only Pierre Kirby movie you've shown that I can honestly say I wouldn't like

It really only has one major flaw: Needs more Kirby.

"Needs more Kirby" should be on t-shirts.

Very solid episode. Good to see some more Pierre Kirby as always.

I think the biggest problem witht the film is that the A-Plot (the film that Godfrey Ho spliced Kirby into) is downright boring and generic. Compared the giant serpents and indonesian freedom fighters and undertakers training people in martial arts, the A-Plot is dullsville.

Yeah, I can see that.

The entire thing of the A and B plots throws me off. I tried to picture how other more mainstream movies would do this. Like in Inception: everything Leo and his Scooby gang are up to is plot B, while in plot A we see the dreams of a German Shepherd fighting crimes and bumping into Leo.

Actually, that would probably have vastly improved Inception.

I loved seeing the Snob getting all excited about another Pierre Kirby movie, even if it wasn't as good of a movie as some of the others. Not really a complaint but that episode felt a lot longer than it actually was, not sure why.

Some day it's going to be revealed that pierre kirby didn't die out at sea, and that he has been hiding in finland, growing this bitching nordic death metal beard that can play children of bodom songs all on it's own.

Or... we're going to see cinema snob funding an expedition to southeast asian oceans, fishing out sunken yachts attempting to find this lost prophet of his. Eventually he finds this haggard prostitute who tells him the story about how pierre kirby fought six men on his own using a shiv he ground down from a toothbrush he snuck out of the bathroom solid snake style. He finally finds it tho. He cranes up the yacht, finds a corpse in a tuxedo and pulls it up. When they check it's dental records and skeletons they find it's not him! He keeps digging the yacht for clues and finds a safe, opening the safe he finds a note. All it reads: "You'll never find me, i got away with it all! -PK" Snob looks to the sky and we fade to black.

TWO YEARS LATER

We fade in, he's at home... he gets a knock on his door. When he goes to see who's there. There's nothing. He looks down, there's a box with the letters "PK" enscribed on it. He opens the package eagerly and opens the box inside. There's a lock, a key, and a ninja headband, and a note. The note reads "Don't stop. My story must be told...."

I've been trying to determine exactly what the market for these flicks was. Straight to video seems like it was even too high class for these strange hybrid pieces, and the fact that they lifted music with impunity seems like it would have kept them out of all but the most backwoods of video stores even in the 80s.

Perhaps in the US that would have been the case due to copyright, but importing those movies to Europe would've been easy stuff. Especially eastern Europe. I for one can confirm that part, as we got so much schlock and exploitation movies you wouldn't believe and they were all sold for some meager sums of a couple of $ like 2-3 tops. Of course "respectable" video stores didn't but in the early 90s you could basically buy vhs tapes from some guy who's set up a table on the street(that included pirated video games too).

Really liked this episode; felt like a weird throwback to the old snob in a way. Don't know why exactly.

I really liked the format for reviewing the videos basically Separately.

Though fairly nothing else about this stood out. 6.5/10

I have a feeling that Brad is going to keep finding new Pierre Kirby films. His films were so poorly distributed that its nearly impossible to know how many movies he truly made. I'm expecting American Commando 33 1/2 to pop up sooner or later.

Well, I think they were distributed almost the same way (a.k.a. "same markets") as Bruno Mattei's movies were: obscure american VHS stores, some parts of europe and asia.

Nothing all that mainstream, although I'm sure his movies showed up in more than one cinema on japan and south korea.
