| There's nothing I like more then playing through a video game (especially on XBox Live), where you and 1-3 other people play through a whole game, working together to the goal of beating it.
Anyone here have their own favorite co-op games?

| I know it's obvious, but Left 4 Dead is probably the best one, but only if you can get some friends together. Trying to play with strangers, you get way too many people who don't want to actually play the game and will just annoy you. | |

I dunno, about 70 percent of the time, I was always able to gel better playing with strangers rather then with friends of mine.

| I'm playing Demon's Souls and while it's not technically a co-op game, the way you can get others to help you is pretty ingenious. | |

I enjoyed that one, and I'm not really a fan of the Tom Clancy games. It kind of surprised me. I played through those two with my brother and surprisingly got really into them, even nerding out and talking in military jargon. For me though, it's "Metal Slug." My favourite arcade game is also my favourite co-op game. It's simple, sure, but it's just so much fun blasting shit up - especially with a friend. I kind of wish they would have expanded on it a bit more though, with 4 characters and all should've had more chances for more than 2 people. Then again it'd probably get a bit too hectic. *shrug* I also like other games like that in co-op, like Alien Hominid and Contra.

| I was always a fan of the X-Men arcade game where up to 6 people could knock the crap out of Sentinels. | |

Yeah, that was a fun one. I haven't seen once since I was a wee one though.

I liked how comparatively unforgiving it was. In your Halo's or CoD's there really isn't much penalty for dying, you know? But in Rainbow Six, if you're on a terrorist hunt and you go down, you stay down. I think the higher stakes make yo really pay more attention to how you go about the game, which is more fun for me.

Yeah, that's true. I also felt it actually had some actual tactical presence. When it comes to modern shooters, I will only put up with grim and gritty realism if it actually requires proper teamwork. Probably why I'd take Battlefield over Call of Duty any damn day - actual teamwork is required. When it's just a mindless Quake style team deathmatch or CTF, "realistic" settings turn me off. I'd rather have a big ass improbability gun in that scenario, and CoD just feels like a bloody Quake 3 realism mod. - Son Of Jack Deth wrote:

That game was great. I still play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory on occasion. Shame "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" was a bit of a disappointment, at least in my eyes.

| For PC (and from what I hear, Xbox Live soonish) Magicka is a pretty fun for this. The game takes a bit of getting used to but it's a lot of fun once you get going. Actually I've always liked all of those gauntlet-esc overhead shooter games. Marvel Ultimate Alliance and the Hunter: The Reckoning game for Xbox were both a lot of fun to play with my roommates back in college. I hear the new Lara Croft game that plays like this is pretty good too, and there's a friggen' Soul Reaver character pack for it.
Also, ever the Minecraft fanboy that I am, The experience just gets better with more people. I totally recommend getting a server running and inviting a couple friends to join in, preferably with some kind of VoIP chat going while you play. Don't waste your time playing on random servers with strangers, though. Unless you like having your shit wrecked by people who make griefing it's own game mode.

| The Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is pretty fun for how basic it is. | |
