Fun lists. I'd love to see a Snob of CHOPPING MALL.

I'm curious - Your selections are all from the 80s, which makes sense since that was really when they were getting cranked out. How far back would you say the history of slasher flicks goes? Since there's been a lot of horror flicks on tv lately (most of them subpar slasher remakes) it's been on my mind. If we leave giallos out of the discussion, did the American slasher officially start with, say, HALLOWEEN or TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE? Would you call a movie like PEEPING TOM or DEMENTIA 13 a slasher flick?
