"Clerks" director Kevin Smith's newest movie "TUSK" is now in theaters. It's a Human Centipede-style horror/comedy about an old man who's trying to turn someone into a walrus. The closest screening in my area is in NYC & I'll be going to see it sometime this week. I hope that Brad will do a review of this one soon.

In Brad and Jerrid's review of "Red State" I believe Brad mentioned he liked Kevin Smith's movies. So im sure he is going to review this one.
Personally I also like his movies.
Clerks 1+2, Chasing Amy and Dogma I really loved. (though that dance number in clerks 2 really took me out of the movie)
Mallrats, Jersey girl, Jay and silent bob strikes back, zack&miri make a porn and Red state I liked, they all had some great elements to them (and yes, I really thought Jersey girl had some great elements).
Cop Out...... yeah, I bought a DVD-copy of it. A used one. I watched the first 15 minutes. I stopped, and I never continued the movie. And I dont think I ever will.
Tusk looks great and the plot sounds cool. It have the same feeling as with red state: it dosent look or feel like a typical kevin smith movie. The man must really have gone to great lengths to alter his style.
Im really looking forward to Tusk.

On IMDb, this is the first film of a trilogy based in Canada.

I've just came back from seeing "TUSK"at a NYC theater (the closest I could find in my area). Man, that was a fucked-up movie!

I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet (including Brad). Lets just say the "walrus" effects was a real mindfuck the first time I saw it.

i still haven't seen Red State. but his worst film is easily Cop Out. it had one funny line that made me laugh at the start of the film and that's about it. ya know after all these years i think it's time he did get away from his brand of humor. don't get me wrong i love his humor. but he is 44 years old now. and i hope that he does keep making different type of films.

I remember catching Red State near about the first third on a random stream from some guys on 4chan. For the longest time I didn’t know that that was a Kevin Smith film. Until recently I didn’t know he was doing things outside of this ‘Jay and Silent Bob’-verse aside from Jersey Girl, but I welcome it.
(Funny story about 4chan streams, I remember I watched Tron: Legacy for the first time on a stream from some people on 4chan. As a result, my viewing experience is skewed. I remember my favorite riff in the chatroom was when Flynn fought Clu in the climax, someone said ‘Yo dog, I herd u liek bridges, so we gave you Jeff Bridges, fighting Jeff Bridges on a bridge’ I couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard)
Tusk sounds crazy. I remember I couldn’t sit through the whole thing of Human Centipede. Not for the grotesquery, but I was bored out of my skull and couldn’t wait for every character to die. Brad and crew have said that, and I paraphrase ‘the biggest crime to a comedy is when it isn’t funny’ I would add the addendum to horror movies that ‘the biggest crime to a horror is when you don’t care about the victims’.
So Otaku, is Tusk guilty of the same crime I condemned Human Centipede ubove.

From what I've seen, it's a dark comedy/horror movie. It was a bit more funnier than "Human Centipede". It also made me forget that it was a Kevin Smith movie. Michael Parks wasn't as good as he was in "Red State". He was more crazy than he was disturbing.

One good thing I want to say about "TUSK" is that the practical effects by Robert Kurtzman are awesome.

Meh. Kind of lost interest in Smith outside his Jay and Silent Bob universe.

Sean he had done some good movies outside that universe. one Being Zack & Miri though many do hate that movie and they have their reasons and that's fine. that's easily a favorite of mine. his worst is easily Cop Out. many say Jersey Girl is one of his worst. and i still haven't seen that one to give my thoughts on that.
so check his other films out man just leave Cop Out off your list man.
