Musical March (in September) Empty
PostSubject: Musical March (in September)   Musical March (in September) EmptyTue Oct 07, 2014 11:21 pm

Lately Brad reviewed four older and obscure musical films that weren't quite hits, for some reason or another.
I enjoyed the reviews very much, how about you?

At Long Last Love - I agree with the Snob, seems to be better and funnier than the critics and audience back made it appear. Of course with the Snob talking over it it's funny but I believe that this at least deserves a chance, at least compared to "The Apple" and "Can't stop the Music".

The Apple - Seems pretty pointless, ugly and dated and I can guess why it was a flop. I would rather give the stage version a try. But it's cute to see how they thought 1994 would turn out.

Shock Treatment - A movie I already put on my Letterboxd watchlist because no matter if it's better or worse than "Rocky Horror Picture Show", it seems crazy enough and the music presented is catchy and stands out out of all the other reviewed musical movies where I forgot the songs not long after.

Can't stop the Music - Okay, this movie doesn't seem to have a point at all to me. Why was it made? They should have called it "Steve Guttenberg's quirky City Adventures" or something. And the music sounds horrible, the scenes were all so dull. Even that one "Married...with Children" Halloween episode including the Village People (okay, mostly their music) is way closer to the pop group. The least movie of this Musical March (in September) I would wanna experience.

I really enjoyed Musical March and am so delighted he capped it off with CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC. I hope he does it again (in March for real) and discusses NEWSIES, SEXTETTE, GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROAD STREET and/or THE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR (because sometimes even with the Beatles, a Beatles-based musical is a bad idea.)

I also would like to see more BroBrad.

Oh yeah, you remind me: That Bro-parts in the last review made me laugh a lot and I would also like to see more of that (but not too often or else this number becomes overused Wink). I also knew what he and Jake were referencing to so I had some more fun Wink
