| Does anybody remember the first time you've seen a movie in the theaters that was rated "R"? I clearly remember seeing "Die Hard 2" back in 1990. I was 6 years old and went to see it on a field trip while I was in summer camp.

| Hmm, let's see. I'm having a hard time thinking what the earliest one was. I think it was Robocop 2. As a kid I saw a lot of R-rated movies on home video. My dad was a huge horror fan, and didn't mind me watching that kind of stuff. I saw the first Robocop on VHS and really liked it, so he took me to see the 2nd one at the theater when I was 8. Hey, it had a kid and an anti-drug message to it, clearly it was made with kids in mind.
First R-rated movie I saw on my own after turning 17: The Matrix. It came out a few days after my Birthday, and it was still another year until I could do all the good 'turning 18' shit. Our local theater had always been really strict about checking IDs and not letting kids into R-rated movies, so it was at least one new freedom I could take part in. Also I really liked the movie (this was the first one we're talking about).

| The second R-rated movie I've seen in theaters was Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" in 1999. I was 16 at the time it was released. Me and my friends bought tickets to see the PG-13 Bond film "The World Is Not Enough". We successfully snuck into the theater that was playing "Sleepy Hollow" once we got inside. | |

| Sleepy hollow for some reason isn't a great film. it's well made and shit. i love the look of it. but even though i've seen it countless times it's a medicore film. and i only watch it every couple of years. anyways.
the 1st horror film i saw that i Can answer EASILY was "Nightmare 6' i was i think 12 i forget when it was released the month i mean cause i turned 13 that year. anyways i went and saw it in the theatre with my brother who was 17 at the time. i don't remember them saying jack shit about ID's though. i was a short shit so you easily could tell i was under age. i still am a short shit but thankfully not as short as i was back than.
my 2nd one was "New Nightmare' when i was 15 in (1994) i honestly haven't seen that many horror films in the theatre not cause i refuse to see them i'd love to see as many as i can. but it's really mainly due to the fact that the people i go to the movies with aren't horror film fans like i am. they can't stand them. i saw "New Nightmare' with my brother
and the last film i saw with him in the theatre was "Skelton Key" in (2005) which was a good movie it just had a shitty ending. that i DO remember. and the one before that i honestly can't remember. it was in the 90's. my point is he's a big horror film like i am. but i RARELY talk to him anymore or hell even see him. cause he's one of those people who only calls when he wants something. so fuck him. sorry about venting here it just pisses me off that's all

| First R-rated film I ever saw in the theater, I believe was Terminator 2. I was 14 and my older sister took me.
However, the first R-rated film I ever saw in general was much earlier than that. I can't remember how old I was, probably 6 or 7, and it was either Scarface, Death Wish, or Friday the 13th Part 2. I don't know which of those three I saw first, but I do remember those being the earliest examples of R-rated films that I saw at a young age.

| I think it was THE CROW. I was 13, which is just the right age to fully appreciate that movie. I recently picked it up on dvd but have not rewatched it for fear it will not hold up. | |

| honestly i don't think the film ever was that great. even when i 1st saw it when it came go video in whatever year it was.
i haven't seen any of the sequels or the tv series either. so i can't say they were terrible.
but to each their own i guess. he he good cast though that i DO recall.

The sequels on the other hand.... I stopped at the third film and never even got to "Wicked Prayer." I dodged a bullet based on what most people say of this one, although they should've just cast Iggy Pop as a villain in the first film because he was the only real element of "City of Angels" that was worth a damn. I did see the original "Crow" at the Scottsdale 6 Drive-In when I was ten, but I remember really wanting to see "The Lawnmower Man" two years earlier. I think I dragged my family to see that one at the United Artists theatre in Mesa, so I have to call that one my first R-rated movie house experience. That one...well, if anyone ever thought "The Crow" doesn't hold up now, just imagine my disappointment years later when I regarded it as just a so-so cyberthriller despite my sliver of nostalgic respect.

| well honestly many people hate lawnmower man but i kinda dig those films. the first one is a favorite and with all the faults the 2nd one has it's a fun flix. which Crow movie has "Dennis Hopper' in it? i forget he's the shit a favorite of mine. it's a damn shame he's gone now cause i'd think he'd be getting back in the limelight with all these old action heroes
coming back to theatres.

| ya know i don't mind Mario Bros. yes it's a bad film but it's one i get a kick out of. i had fun with it as a kid. but people always say how bad that one is but he has done far far worse films than that one. he did one called "Paris Trout" i think? or something like that for i believe HBO in i think (1991) and it was terrible. i liked waterworld. it's another fun film
another one that many people hate but it's a far better film than say "The Postman' which IS a terrible film.
my point is Dennis Hopper did a LOT of shitty movies during his drug years and before he got his career back in the blue velvet era. and than when he started to do his made for tv or video, B films or indepandant films. sorry about my spelling.
either way he's done a LOT of shitty movies and a LOT of good ones as well

| I liked Waterworld also. My roomate has a burnt copy of the Uylsses cut which adds the footage from the tv verison but is uncut like the theatrical.Yeah the postman is a horrible movie one of the most boring films ive ever seen.Yeah his films are hit or miss(Firetsatrer rekilded being one of his worst) but his acting is amazing | |
