PostSubject: Movies that will never be remade   Fri Dec 27, 2013 8:39 pm

Ok, so we all know Hollywood is remaking everything these days and almost HAS remade everything by now. But are there any movies even they won't touch? I came up with a couple of examples:

The Godfather (Technically it wouldn't be a remake but another adaptation. Still, nobody would dare to do it.)
Birth of a nation (1915) (For obvious reasons...)
-Back to the future (Changed my mind on this one. I will cry if it happens, but it probably will happen)

2001 - Because for it to be remade with a big budgeted studio, it would probably cost 100-250 million, and it wouldn't be profitable for obvious reasons (mainly for 2001 not for the faint of heart)

Apocalypse Now - Because production went right the first time, didn't it? I mean Hearts of Darkness is one of the most famous behind-the-scenes documentaries, and it must be because of how production went swimmingly.

Toxic Avenger 4: Citizen Toxie: Because if a first remake is unlikely, how do we know that the 4th would get remade (that, and I can see a very miniscule chance of a Citizen Kane remake)

The Last Temptation of Christ: Because there was no controversy at all when it first came out. Oh wait!

Holy shit there's a godfather remake coming after all Shocked

http://www.uni.illinois.edu/og/arts-entertainment/2012/04/michael-bay-chosen-dire

Spoiler:

And my reasoning for Back to the Future (trilogy) being remade is that the Hollywood studios must be thinking "Hmm, that movie still has a big following, but today's kids can't relate to a 30 year old story. Instead we're gonna set it in the present day and Marty will travel to the 80's and we can make fun of all the stupid 80's stuff. We're also gonna make Doc Brown 30 years younger and have him be a socially awkward hipster with a cgi robot sidekick. DeLorean is going to be replaced with a tuned-up Nissan Skyline. As for the second part, the year 2015 is just around the corner so we obviously gotta set it in the 2040's. Think about how much awesome cgi effects we can use for that time period! In the third part they're obviously not gonna be travelling to the old west, because nobody cares about that stuff nowdays. Instead we have them go to the ancient Rome, where Marty becomes a gladiator and Doc is working for a Roman emperor building all kinds of wacky contraptions."

Oh my god now I wish even more that's not gonna happen.

Excluding most sequels...

FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980) - No, that 2009 reboot is NOT a remake. It's more of an alternet Part 2. Jason has taken over. There will never be another film focusing on his mother as the killer. This film will never truly be remade.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) - They wouldn't dare.

JAWS - Though I like the sequels, I think Universal has learned its lesson about making this into a franchise.

Erm, I hate to say it Toyland, but supposedly they're making a remake of Wonderful Life either in 2014, or 2015...

I think that's actually a sequel, but six of one.....

A CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST remake seems unlikely, seeing as there's rules about treatment of animals on movie sets now (thank god).

2001: A SPACE ODDYSEY

M - At least I sure hope that never happens.

Child murderer. If Hollywood does cover that topic, which is unlikely, it won't be with a M remake. Besides, an M remake won't be the most marketable remake, even though I've been wanting to see it (the original, not a remake)

I know it'll never be remade, but they should remake Gone With The Wind with Kristen Stewart as Scarlett O'Hara. Uwe Boll should direct.

It was a sequel they were planning. I'm not sure if it will happen, though. Last I heard Paramount stepped in and claimed rights issues over the story the original film is based on. A sequel is also a bad idea, it will either be a rehash or will just ruin the original's happy ending.

i'd say Casablanca but i think they did remake that a few times. i believe that also had some sort of sequel later on.

i think i did read they are remaking it but i'm not 100% for certain so i could be wrong.

Sean i agree Friday the 13th (2009) doesn't feel like a remake to me either, more like Part 2.5 which is i believe how it was advertisted as. at least i think tha'ts how it was suppose to be? either way it's a sequel i actually liked, didn't love but liked.

Isn't Barb Wire a remake of Casablanca? I cannot say because I haven't seen either, but I do remember the Nostalgia Critic's Barb Wire review.

Considering we're describing something which already happened in 1951, it's interesting to see just how backwards Hollywood has (de-)evolved by way of a film's marketability and subject matter.

'Barbed Wire' simply makes tongue-in-cheek allusions to 'Casablanca''s plot rather than being an outright remake.

'Caboblanco' with Charles Bronson, though, is more or less a remake.

I'd say Citizen Kane but then there's Velvet Goldmine which is pretty much like a glam rock version of it.
I don't see a remake of A Clockwork Orange coming out ever.

i still haven't seen citizen kane, reason being each time i try to watch it i fall asleep on it. out of boredom actually. clockwork orange? that would not surprise me. if tim burton did it with johnny depp that is. he he.

since we are getting a Alice in wonderland sequel apparently. oddly enough that was my 1st blu-ray yet i still hven't watched it. how about The Maltese Falcon? which is a remake in itself of a (1931) Film which name escape me at the moment.

I love CITIZEN KANE, but it's more for the actors showcase/technical innovation than the story. I think a remake would be pretty disastrous.

If PINK FLAMINGOS gets remade I will be very surprised.
