I went to see "the desolation of Smaug". It was a drawn-out affair - could easily have been an hour shorter - and it seemed tired. The actors were fine, but the direction seemed lackluster. It was 'going-through-the-motions" scripting and directing, where all the notes are hit in the proper order but there's no sense of fun anymore. See it if you like but don't expect too much.

Obviously Brad only liked it because he was tired Wink

I'll probably still catch it in the second-run theater. I enjoyed the last one. I'm not a Tolkein diehard so a lot of what Jackson did doesn't really affect me...

My friends and I saw it last night.

It was squarely a middle of the road movie....it certainly wasn't bad, but wasn't excellent either.

Due to bad weather in my area, I still haven't seen the movie yet.
But I have read the book & seen the cartoon as a kid growing up.

I might see this once it plays in my town. Hopefully I have some money. I didn't see the first HOBBIT in theatres.

I loved it. The action scenes could have been waaaay shorter, but it was still lots & lots of fun..!  Cool
