Question..which Lone Ranger movie was better?

The 2013 Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer version? Or the 1981 Klinton Spilsbury version?

I've yet to watch the new one, but from the reviews I may wait for cable. I have seen the 1981 version and it was horrible. I think it even got a ton of Razzies.

It was more like the '50s TV show. From what I remember it even had a balladeer.

Anyway, has anyone seen both versions?

Well...I guess we got the Snobs answer. Except for the narrator he seemed like he didn't mind the '81 version.

I guess since the new version bombed Hollywood wont make a new version of the Cisco Kid.

I'm gonna stick to my guns, I honestly enjoyed the recent Lone Ranger movie.

Was it a bit on the long side? Yeah, but I still enjoyed it.

i haven't seen either version. my folks went and saw it and enjoyed it. they don't get why people are saying why it's so bad. they say well if you aren't from the time the show was on you won't get it. it's a different generation. well that maybe so but going by what brad has said about the film.

on how it's pretty much a Tonto film. well actually it IS a tonto film. all i know is that if you are going to do a Lone Ranger film. than make it about well the lone Ranger. and his partner Tonto of course.

to quote brad and the snob. don't make him a fucking pussy. the long ranger i mean. like i said i haven't seen it, but no doubt i prolly will at some point.

The three main points I'm hearing from people who hated the film are:

1) It was way to long

2) LR pretty much came off as a pussy, and didn't become LR till more then halfway into the movie

3) Johnny Depp's Tonto was too over the top.

that's prolly about it no doubt. i dunno just guessing man. and you know i've been a fan of Johnny Depp Since about (1987) when 21 Jump Street 1st came out. and i was thrilled that Edward Scissorhands was a hit back than. and it did piss me off when he left the show back than. because i like the actor. but even though the guy is a great actor. and like i like to put it is like a fucking chamelion which i spelled wrong but you know what i'm trying to say.

anyways, but sometimes his way of playing characters he does get carried away. i'm one of the people who enjoyed the remake of willy wonka. i don't love it and it's got far too many flaws. but i like how it does follow the book a bit more than the original. but Depp was playing Michael Jackson in it. and it was just plain Creepy. i read somewhere where he tests the various ways on his kids to see if they like it. ok i can somewhat understand that. but his way of playing Willy Wonka is just plain creepy.

i didn't have high expectations going in that one. they were low. but had fun & what also helped was Christopher Lee. i'll watch him in anything. outside of gay porn. thank god he never did that! he he.
anyways. my point is that i agree, he's a great actor that can play anything really. NOT everyone is like that. but sometimes he does get carried away and that's me being polite about it.

i remeber seeing the 80s lone ranger as a teenager and thought it was god awful. ill definatlly go see this one though cause i fucking love johnny depp. Hes a great actor and hes pretty damn hot too.

I've never seen either, but I will probably see the new one eventually. I watched JOHN CARTER, I'll no doubt see this one.

I've actually never watched an episode of the TV series either. Just a character I've heard of, but never really interested in.
